Abbs Cross Academy Governce
The Loxford School Trust is an Academy Trust developed from Loxford School of Science and Technology. The Trustees have been selected to represent the interests of local communities and act as guardians of the educational aims of the Trust. The Trust also includes a board of Directors who hold the CEO and each academy committee to account.

NICOLA JETHWAI have been teaching for 23 years and trained as an English Teacher. I have been a part of Senior Leadership since 2003 and have been a Deputy Head in both Newham and Barking and Dagenham. I feel very privileged to have been appointed as the Headteacher at Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College and have been the substantive Head since October 2016. The role of Headteacher allows me to support our students in becoming resilient adults who enjoy the challenge of learning and who will be able to take their place in our society. |

PHILLIP CABLEI am 51 and married with 5 children and lives in Ware in Hertfordshire. He was born in Barking and attended St Edwards School in Romford and his connection with Abbs Cross stems from the fact that his late mother attended the school back in the late 1950’s He is the Chief Executive Officer and co founder of a Company called MAST a global risk management and security business that supports a wide range of clients operating both in the UK at sea in the marine market and in other complex environments around the world.
Phil’s early career was as a marine broker in the Lloyds of London Insurance market which led to him to return to education and graduate in Law following which he commenced training as a Solicitor. Phil was then commissioned into the Royal Navy where he served for six years as a Warfare Officer before returning to the Private Sector. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Maritime Law before founding MAST in 2005. Phil enjoys coaching and playing football, is involved in Amateur Dramatics and loves the outdoors. He has a strong belief in giving each child a tailored education to suit their abilities and talents. |

MICHALA AYLWARDI have three children, two of whom attend a local Primary School and one who attends Abbs Cross Academy. I am an Assistant Headteacher at a Secondary Academy in East London and teach English. My current role is based largely on improving the quality of education – including the development of curriculum delivery and HR. In the past, I have held pastoral roles and overseen safeguarding. I am very passionate about the role that education plays in widening opportunities and removing barriers. I am committed to help in any way I can as an Academy Committee Member. |

Katy SweenyI have worked with children for 19 years as a nursery nurse and social worker. I’ve been qualified as a social worker for 11 years and have worked in children’s services in assessment and long-term work advocating for safe care for children. For 3 years+ I have worked for Cafcass in private family law and as a consultant Family Court Advisor, I am seen as the child expert within the court arena. I could bring a passion for advocating for children with a focus on child uniqueness to the Governing Board and would welcome this new experience. |

NIKKI MOOREI am a newly appointed staff committee member for Abbs Cross Academy. I started working at Abbs Cross academy in 2012 and have seen the positive changes that have been made by the trust. I have held various positions in the school. My current role supports student enrichment and allows me to develop positive relationships with students and staff. It also allows me to support the curriculum outside the classroom. I am determined to provide support and encouragement to succeed to all our students and support the development of the school going forward. |
